Not everyone wants to deal with AoT, whether it's due to the generous gore, misery, death, war themes, violence, cannibalism (sort of), the author's alleged political sentiments or whatever else.

Additionally, while it's unlikely to come up in detail, Erwin's story deals with government persecution, daddy issues parental death, politics, manipulation, reckless risk-taking, depression, guilt, self-hate and suicidal ideation.
