Attack on Titan is generous on graphic gore, and it deals with or touches on plenty of disturbing topics including war, war crimes, militarism, child soldiers, fictional racism/eugenics, genocide/omnicide, cannibalism (sort of), suicide/suicidal ideation, classism, exploitation and more.

Additionally, while it's unlikely to come up in detail, Erwin's story deals with government persecution, daddy issues parental death, politics, manipulation, reckless risk-taking, depression, guilt, self-hate and suicidal ideation.
